CoQ10 or Coenzyme Q10 is an incredible antioxidant that has become more and more popular in the last few years.  We are all exposed to free radicals daily and antioxidants work hard to halt the effects of that damage.  Coenzyme Q10 is believed to have many health benefits and can aid in the prevention of the following: kidney failure, heart failure, chronic fatigue, migraines, high blood sugar, gum disease, breast cancer, and fibromyalgia.  CoQ10 is also know to have powerful anti-aging benefits and may give your immune system a pick me up.  Clearly CoQ10 is an amazing supplement and can benefit you in many ways, it may be the most important supplement in your diet.   

You will want to stick with the appropriate dosage of CoQ10 which can range from 50mg up to 400mg.   

Here are some tips if you would like to add CoQ10 to your dietary supplements. 

Ubiquinol and Ubiquinone are the two varieties of CoQ10 available.  Ubiquinol is believed to have better absorption over the Ubiquinone CoQ10 formula, so, you should choose the former.   

You should take your CoQ10 supplement when you are enjoying a meal that has some fat in it.  CoQ10 is a fat soluble supplement and some fat in the diet is necessary for it to be absorbed by your body. 

 

CoQ10 in its liquid form is also more readily absorbed than in the powdered form.  If you are put off by the thought of the liquid, you can obtain CoQ10 in a liqui-gel capsule and this would be an acceptable substitute. 

You should also search for supplements that feature DLHA with the CoQ10 as this will boost the antioxidant properties of your supplement. 

For heart health, it is best to consume 200 mg each day.  

It is easier for your body to process your CoQ10 supplment if you take it in the evening.   

While CoQ10 is a safe supplement, you should consult with your physician if you are nursing, pregnant or planning to become pregnant.   

There may also be some medication interaction while taking CoQ10, som be sure to report all of your medications to your doctor. 

You should check the label for the USP stamp of approval.  This will let you know that the supplement you have chosen has met certain standards including content, quality, purity, and safety.   

You should also review the expiration date to be sure you are purchasing a fresh product.
